Monday Night Masters:

   from 'Sludy's desk'

 11th October:     'Carrum Downs'

In a masters game that is perhaps best forgotten, other than for its final batting innings in near dark, did the Triple D's show a glimpse of excitement.

The 10-5 loss was just deserts for not being "tuned in" and ready for the challenge.

Next week:  we are at Berwick, arriving 'RTG' and play as we plan to.

4th October:     'Sandringham  A'

With a true team effort the Triple D's outplayed the reigning masters Premiers - Sandringham, for a 5-3 win!

Terrific pitching efforts by Gnome Sweeney & GT Taylor, capably caught by Daisy Cruise gave an impressive battery display.

Solid team defence, including 3 smooth double plays (one an individual double by the Lozza King on 3rd, with a catch and then dive to 3rd base for the retreating runner) stopped options of the opposition.

For the 1st time this season discipline batting gave us run scoring chances, our 13 hits led by Judge Schneider & Gnome each with 4 sizzling line drives.

Lozza, GT, 12green, Daisy also played their parts well.

Next week:  we are at home with a 6.15pm start against Carrum Downs.

28th October:    'Sandringham  B'

We were all in the front row for the 'Lozza Robinson Clinic'.

We took our first win for the season! On the back of some terrific defence led by Lozza Robinson at 3rd base in balance with the whole infield.  Resulting in some errorless baseball and special ground ball double plays! (YES... the Lozza show)

This was behind our pitching strength of Gnome Sweeney and birthday boy Grant "GT" Taylor.

Our hitting needs a better level of consistency week to week, special mentions to Tony Green, Daisy Cruise and Gorr Tanic nice efforts.

Thanks to Aaron Tanic for umpiring in the absence of the VBA ump who did not arrive.  Tubby, Philly for the food and the cold beverages.

Next week:  we are at Sandringham.

21st October:     'Springvale B'
